One half of a Medieval copper-alloy swivel dating from AD 1066 - 1500. The piece would originally have been comprised of two linked, D-shaped frames. The surviving half is one of these loops. It is of D-shaped section, flaring at either end, terminating in a pair of inward-facing, devolved zoomorphic heads. Each beast holds in its jaws one side of the flat, lozenge shaped plate containing a circular aperture, into which the spigot of the opposing side of the swivel would have fitted. A cast lead musket ball of Post-Medieval date, AD 1600 - 1800. At a mass of 10.15g, this was probably a pistol shot. The casting seam is visible, as is the casting sprue which has been trimmed with nippers. The ball has a dark grey patina. It is 11.9mm diameter and 10.15g. A copper alloy strap fitting, probably of Roman or Early Medieval date, about AD 43 - 1100, consisting of a plate shaped like three conjoined ovals, arranged in a line, each with a central, circular perforation. From either end of this linear arrangement, and from beneath the junctions between the oval plates are narrow backwards projections. These four projections are joined at their outer ends by another narrow bar, creating three openwork rectangles behind the plate. The strap fitting has a rough, dark green patina. A fragment of an enamelled dragonesque brooch of Roman date, AD 75 - 175. The remaining portion consists of the central, slightly domed oval body, together with the stubs of the two arms. The upper side retains parts of a geometric design in red, blue and yellow enamel. There is a central, transverse row of yellow lozenges, flanked by two inward facing rows of red triangles. Other sections of blue and red enamel are also visible. The underside of the brooch is flat. The remaining fragment is 21.3mm long, 11.9mm wide and 3.3mm thick. It weighs 2.11gm.
