TR POT VIIII COS S C reverse type depicting Mars advancing right holding spear and trophy. Mint of Rome. Compare RIC III, p. 184, no. 1322. This is probably a 'Coin of British Association' as listed by D. Walker in his report on the Sacred Springs at Bath (Walker, 1988: pp. 295, 299, nos. 382-435, pl. XXXVIII). It is 23.5mm diameter, 2.6mm thick and 5g.

An incomplete copper alloy double bossed or headed button and loop fastener dating from the early Roman period. It is of a type not classified by Wild, but similar to Wild Class II: ring headed, which dates from the mid first to second century AD (AD 43 - 200). The fastener is incomplete with almost all of the ring shaped "button" element missing. The breaks are very worn and patinated. Only the very top part of the ring survives, and this is twisted. A copper alloy miniature object or pendant in the form of an axe, probably dating from the Late Bronze Age to Roman period, about 1200 BC - AD 410. The axe is sub-rectangular in section at the butt, flares to a curved asymetrical cutting edge and has a side loop. The circular loop is internally worn towards the outer edge and the butt end. The axe is 36.4mm long, 18.7mm wide and 4mm thick. 5.85g. It has a grey patina with green corrosion where damaged. Part of Roman silver finger ring, dating from AD 200 - 300, unusual in having a gold border round the gem intaglio. The gold appears to be on the surface only. Only the bezel area of the finger ring survives. It is wide and curved along the hoop and across the hoop. It has an oval bezel with a gem set in it. An incomplete, copper alloy Roman plate brooch, dating from AD 100 - 300. It has an oval body with a central, oval depression which probably once held a decorative setting, though only a greenish residue now remains. The reverse of the brooch carries the stubs of a single pin lug, pierced to take a copper alloy pin, and the catch plate. A small part of the pin remains in the lug. Hattatt suggests that the outer section was enamelled and the inner section carried a paste intaglio. No evidence of either remains. A fragment of an enamelled dragonesque brooch of Roman date, AD 75 - 175. The remaining portion consists of the central, slightly domed oval body, together with the stubs of the two arms. The upper side retains parts of a geometric design in red, blue and yellow enamel. There is a central, transverse row of yellow lozenges, flanked by two inward facing rows of red triangles. Other sections of blue and red enamel are also visible. The underside of the brooch is flat. The remaining fragment is 21.3mm long, 11.9mm wide and 3.3mm thick. It weighs 2.11gm.
