Record ID: WILT-0DAB11
Object type: MOUNT
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Wiltshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Copper alloy oval mount, measuring 18.5 by 16mm with a thickness of 3mm. it is probably of romano-british date. the edge is angled in yielding an upper face 13 by 11 mm. both faces are recessed by slightly less than 1mm. that on the upper side contains traces of adhesive, possibly bitumen. The mount perhaps once held a semi-precious stone, or glass intaglio. it appears to be complete and there is no obvious means of attachment to a larger item.

Object type: HARNESS PENDANT
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Wiltshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Plain disc with a diameter of 45mm., with integral rounded attachment loops with 2.5mm diameter perforation. This is a sun disc from a fly or head terret. The form of attachment enabled the disc to swing free within its circular frame. It is thus more closely allied to the medieval horse pendants than to the more usual form of horse brass which have an angular attachment.
