Record ID: HAMP-58A472
Object type: BRACELET
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Hampshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A post-medieval fragment of twisted silver wire with thistle-shaped gilt finial, approximately 4.0 cm long. The object, which has been examined by a number of British Museum curators in different fields, is hard to place and no parallels have yet been found for it. The thistle-shaped terminal is reminiscent of those on late 15th Century silver spoons, but these lack the twisted wire. A tentative dating to the 16th Century is proposed here until further evidence comes to light.

A 17th century silver head-dress pin, ‘bodkin’ type. Rectangular in plan, tapering to a blunt point, and is hexagonal in cross-section.
