A copper-alloy 'beehive' thimble constructed from sheet metal, probably dating from 1400-1500 AD. It is squashed and there is damage to the rim but was originally dome shaped, with no division between crown and sides. Unusually, this thimble either has a double layered wall, or is in fact two thimbles which were stacked one inside the other when deposited. A late Anglo-Saxon three-dimensional silver finial/strap-end, broken at one end. From a sub-rectangular plate with two fixing holes depends a small rounded animal head which bites into the top of the head of a backward-looking canine creature, which in turns appears to bite another ill defined creature attacking its rump. The tail of another creature is visible at the broken end of the piece. A Bronze age strip of sheet gold which long, cigar shaped with squared off terminals. At either end is a set of three small perforations set in a triangle. Small, plain penannular gold ring of flattened oval cross section; the ends taper slightly to flat terminals. Examination in the laboratory indicated that the object has a base metal core. External diameter 15.5x14mm; internal diameter 4.5mm; breadth 6mm; weight 6.18 grams. Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence analysis of the surface of penannular ring from 'Havant area', Hampshire, indicated a gold content of 76 - 79 %, silver content of 16 - 18 %, the remainder being copper. The ring weighs 6.18 grams and the specific gravity measurement of 9 indicates that it has a base metal core.

An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman openwork belt mount, probably associated with the military and dating from the 3rd century AD. The is an elaborate pelta shape in plan with a bifurcating terminal which curves towards the concave section of the pelta, one terminal is incomplete due to an old break at the tip of the pelta mount. The reverse of the mount has a large integrally cast rounded shank with wide flattened head that would have secured the mount to a leather strap.

A small silver Anglo-Saxon hooked-tag, of round, delicate shape. The hook, now twisted, depends from a round plate with two attachment holes (one blocked by deposited dirt). The back of the plate is plain, whilst the front, which is rather worn, has what appears to be a zoomorphic decoration within a plain border. This seems to consist of a beast with vegetation motifs emerging from his open jaws; further not easily identifiable details /space fillers are also present. Originally the decoration would have stood out against a black niello background.

An incomplete copper-alloy Roman crossbow brooch of 3rd - early 4th century date. There is an integral, collared, bi-conical knop with a large central pellet on top on the surviving end of the rectangular sectioned crossbar and at the top of the bow. Only a vestigial of the other end of the cross bar and the bow survive. The collars on the knops are decorated with a ropework design. The brooch appears to be a Keller type 3/4 and a Prottel type 3/4 which date from 325 - 410 AD. There is a veritcal incision running along the survivng section of the reverse and the knop at the top of the bow.

A fragment from a cast copper-alloy knobbed bracelet (bangle or armlet) probably dating from the late Hallstatt period to the late Iron Age (c. 800 BC - 43 AD). The bracelet consists of a curved rod formed of four globular 'beads' or knops (c. 6.3mm thick) with rounded ridged collars (c. 4.65mm thick). Two of the collars have two ridges, the last extant collar has three. One ridge from a collar survives at either end before the old breaks. The rod is sub-circular in cross section. A fragment from a copper-alloy bracelet of late Roman date. The artefact is broadly rectangular in plan and expands slightly towards the tip. In profile it forms an extremely shallow curve. The bracelet is decorated unifacially with two parallel horizontal incisions running along the artefact splitting it into three sections. The central section is undecorated. The remaining two sections have been decorated with a vertical row of numerous circular punches running along the surviving artefacts length. The bracelet has a mid green patina.

A large flanged rim sherd from from a Roman grey ware bowl, curved slightly in profile. The abraded flange is rectangular in cross-section and extends for up to 19mm, but is abraded in many places. The fragment has light-grey colour with pink-orange oxidisation, and some sparse probable grog inclusions. The grey ware fragment has been heated, consequently the fabric has oxidised to a pink colour looking similar to a New Forest ware mortarium.

A complete ceramic wheel made Roman New Forest fine ware indented beaker, reassembled from a main core and some separate sherds. It has an orange oxidised fabric with a fine sand temper which has been hard fired. The surface has been coated with a dark orange-brown slip. The beaker is Fulford's (1975, 50, 52-3) Type 27, an indented beaker with a tall straight body and it is possible that the beaker belongs to his second sub type with a sometimes quite prominent beaded rim (Type 27.11-12). A corroded cast copper-alloy awl or tracer of possible Bronze Age date. The artefact has a thin body with circular cross-section that tapers to a point. There is a pair of small parallel ridges which run along the circumference of the artefact at edge where the body becomes the tang. The 'tang' is sub-rectangular in cross-section, tapering gradually to it tip and is now bent to one side. Such construction is typical of prehistoric awls which are thought to date from the Late Bronze Age.
