A corroded cast copper-alloy awl or tracer of possible Bronze Age date. The artefact has a thin body with circular cross-section that tapers to a point. There is a pair of small parallel ridges which run along the circumference of the artefact at edge where the body becomes the tang. The 'tang' is sub-rectangular in cross-section, tapering gradually to it tip and is now bent to one side. Such construction is typical of prehistoric awls which are thought to date from the Late Bronze Age. The object has a mid to light green patina; the surface of the tang is pitted in places revealing a…

An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman plate brooch of composite construction, sometimes known as a gilded spoke disc brooch. Its upper face features two raised concentric rings which act as a border. Within this border are punched semicircles whose curved base abuts the inner ring. The conjoined punches give the effect of a swag pattern. The main field features a separate attachment consisting of a moulded annulet from which protrude six thin, semicircular bars, equally spaced, one is bent slightly; the lugs abut the inner ring. Through the annulet is a separate stud with a conical to…
