This artefact appears to be a gold-plated silver denarius of the Roman Empress Faustina, which has been mounted for suspension with a silver staple and loop, with the staple attached to the loop with two rivets. Roman coins were quite commonly re-used as pendants in the early Anglo-Saxon period, either simply pierced for suspension or with an attached loop. Occasional gold-plated coin pendants are known from this period.
