Description Decorative gold stirrup-shaped ring. It has a small bezel for a small blue sapphire, en cabochon. The hoop is of D-shaped cross-section (flat internally). The internal hoop diameter is 19.4 x 20 mm (very slightly misshapen). Minimum band width 2.6 mm; minimum band thickness 0.7mm; weight 3.22g. The ring has not undergone any cleaning or conservation. Description The small oval matrix, in silver, retains the rectangular stub of the now missing handle, which was square in cross-section, on the reverse. The matrix is engraved with a cartouche bearing arms: cross engrailed with ermine in quarters, and scallop shell at cross base. The cartouche has three scrolls, and is flanked by two tapering motifs (staffs?), below small cups (chalices?). Description of find A fused stack of fifteen Roman copper-alloy coins. Where the stack has fragmented, partial identifications are possible. The coins include issues around A.D. 348-50 (Constans or Constantius II) and of the usurping emperors Magnentius and Decentius (in Gaul, 350-3), some of whose issues bear a prominent Chi-Rho symbol in their designs. No associated finds were reported. The coins comprise alloys of copper, with no significant precious-metal content. However, the number found, clearly in association, suggests that the coins form treasure.

Two silver coins of Edward III of England (1327-77): 1. Groat, London, Series D, c.1352-3, North 1152; weight: 4.36g (67.2 grains); 2. Groat, London, Series E, c.1354-5, North 1163; weight: 4.25g (65.6 gr), a small chip of metal missing. The first of the coins shows some signs of wear; the second is fairly fresh. Both are of fairly full weight. The finding of two contemporary coins of relatively high value in close proximity suggests that it is likely that they were originally associated in the ground and therefore treasure.

Small annular decorative silver brooch. The frame is decorated with beading in the form of enlarged filigree. There is no restriction in the frame for the pin which has a flat plain shaft and wrap around head. External diameter 215.4 x 15mm; inner diameter 13 x 12.4mm; maximum frame thickness 1.4mm; weight 0.96g. Surviving pin length 11mm; thickness 1.4mm (some of shaft and head missing). The surviving pin is in three fragments (recent breaks, associated with discovery). In terms of size and design, the brooch is of thirteenth- to mid-fourteenth-century form.
