Copper alloy skimmer or strainer length 41mm, width 37mm, thickness 4mm, weight 8.09. The artefact is made from sheet copper alloy (1mm thick) and is sub-oval in plan. There are a series of holes punched through from the topside. The holes are not placed in any particular order and the excess metal produced from the process of hammering a punch through the object has not been cleaned away from the reveres, as a result, all of the holes have a large rolled lip on the reverse. The centre of the object is flat and of the sides are turned upwards slightly, giving low dished appearance.…
