Patinated silver denarius of Carausius (AD 286-93) (Reece Period 14), EXPECTATE VENI, Britannia holding standard standing right clasping hands with emperor standing left holding sceptre. VENI is clear under high magnification - appears VINI or VIIII at normal size. Obverse: IMP CARAVSIVS P F AVG, Laureate, draped and cuirassed right. Mintmark: - // RS[R]; commonly attributed to London, but to be studied further. Diameter 20.5mm, thickness 1.8mm, weight 3.5g. RIC V, pt 2, p. 510, no. 554. This coin is included in Sam Moorhead's corpus for RIC.
