~~This is a 9th century copper alloy strap end. The design on the main plate is decorated with a series of angled lines of various lengths. The overall design is difficult distinguish now owing to damage and corrosion, but a general geometric pattern is visible showing short angled lines on the flanks with long curvilinear lines in the centre. Both the rear and the forward edge are truncated. This a Thomas class A, type 2 strap end which dates it from the late 9th- 10th century.

The matrix has a circular shaped face which is unfortunately heavily corroded and worn resulting in the loss of the inscription and obscuring much of the image in the centre; the elements of the design that are visible appear to show a figure in the centre, with its left arm raised and its right arm held over a smaller object in the lower right corner.
