Medieval cast lead button, circular with a 8.0mm diameter central boss. On its back is an integrally cast loop set on top of a casting seam. Diameter 22.8mm, Thickness 1.8mm, Mass 7.06g. Read (2005, 17) cited parallels from thirteenth to fifteenth century contexts. While Egan and Pritchard ( 1991, Fig. 178) show no parallels for this button there are examples cast using the same three-part mould process.

Post Medieval button made from pressed sheet copper alloy. Hollow globular body (dented in one place) into which a copper alloy disc was fixed, in the centre of this disc is a wire loop. Diameter 10.6mm, Height 14.8mm, Mass 1.64g.
Read (2005, 97) cites a technologically similar button from a seventeenth century context.
