A gold pendant with settings for stones and the reverse has cells, some of which contain enamel, probably 16th century in date. Dr Dora Thornton of the British Museum writes: 'The pendant consists of a dart-shaped stem springing from a trefoil arrangement of two circular lateral lobes above a central, lozenge-shaped terminal. There is a suspension loop at the top with a small gold disc to strengthen the join to the stem on either side, and there is a small ring soldered to each of the lobes for sub-pendants, which are missing. A decorated silver badge of the early post-Medieval period. Dr Dora Thornton of the British Museum writes: 'Silver badge or token, made of thin silver sheet crudely etched rather than engraved with a crucifix, HIS (Iesus) within a border. Perhaps remains of attachment loops at top and bottom on the back which have torn away. Difficult to date as a standardised religious token, but possibly late 17th Century or later.'

CORONER'S REPORT A cast silver annular brooch of the Medieval period. Description A small medieval silver annular brooch. Half of the frame, to one side of the pin, is formed of a twisted wire of square section, with a row of granulation on each face. The other half is flattened, engraved with a series of squares. The pin survives, attached to a constriction in the frame.

A cast copper-alloy Hod Hill type brooch of the early Roman period, dating to the mid 1st century. The brooch is incomplete, missing the head as well as the pin, with only the bow remaining. The bow has a square upper panel ribbed, but with no evidence of lugs. Below are three, perhaps four cross mouldings, with the bow tapering toward the footknob. There is a raised band of cross moulding just above the footknob. Most of the catchplate remains, except for the hook. There is no evidence for tinning.

A cast copper-alloy trumpet-related brooch with a projecting disc on the bow from the early Roman period, probably dating to the 2nd century. The head is a compressed trumpet type with lugs on the reverse and the remains of a spring coil. The upper part of the bow has a spade-shaped ornament with a central band running from the head to a downward projecting disc that emerges from the bow at its midpoint. A cast copper-alloy (probably brass) birdlip-type brooch of the early Roman period, dating to the 1st century. The brooch is incomplete, missing the spring-pin and most of the catchplate and foot. The solid head is slightly trumpet-shaped with a medial ridge and raised semi-circular panels along the sides. The base of the head has a transverse disc with a moulded collar above and below it, and the hooked 'beak' typical of the type below the disc. The bow is X-shaped in section, with an openwork catchplate emerging at the bottom of the bow.

A cast copper-alloya late Iron Age to early Roman Colchester brooch. The brooch is incomplete, lacking a catchplate and spring-pin. The bow is circular in section and tapers as it approaches the foot. The even arc of the bow in profile has also been lost due to bends just above the break of the catchplate and just below the head. The head has two very short arms to either side as well as the base of the spring pin where it emerges from the head.

A cast copper-alloy bar mount of the Medieval period,12th-13th century. The mount is incomplete, but it is rectangular in plan and generally triangular in section. There are breaks at both ends, but there is a circular perforation for a rivet close to one of the broken ends. There is a panel of raised decoration of a sub-rectangular panel with incised lines decorating it. One end of the panel has 3 triangular lobes emerging from it. The underside is undecorated and slightly concave.

The strap junction consists of a sub-square frame that has 3 open cells of sub-rectangular shape. Two cells are oriented with their length vertically, one in each upper quarter. A cast copper-alloy buckle and plate of the late Medieval or early post-Medieval period. The buckle frame is D shaped, with an outer frame (rectangular in section) slightly thicker than the central bar (circular in section). No pin remains. The plate has been cut from a copper-alloy sheet in something similar to an arrowhead-shape in plan (but with a very rounded point). A cast copper-alloy buckle with buckle plate of Medieval date. The buckle frame is an openwork quatrefoil with a central bar (circular in section) fit into holes in the centre of the frame. The frame is rectangular in section. The quatrefoil shape has two longer lobes at the end and a smaller lobe on the top and bottom. The plate has a slot for the pin, which has a simple wrap-around hinge, and was made from a sheet of copper alloy cut in the shape of an oval. A raised line runs across the breadth of the hanger to either side of the central arc. The underside is undecorated. A cast copper-alloy double-framed buckle of the post-Medieval period. The buckle is symmetrical with a central bar and the outer frames both D-shape and plan. The outer edges of the outer frames are straigth, compared to the internal curves of the outer frame. The centre of each outer frame has a decorated knop, with incised grooves that creates a shell effect. The outer corners of the frame also have slight protrusions. The underside is undecorated, and the pin has a simple wrap-around hinge.

A cast lead ampulla of the Medieval period, 12th or 13th century. The ampulla has the typical 'amphora' shape in plan, with a sub-curcular body beneath a neck bearing D-shaped handles. The neck is nearly the same length as the body, giving the object an exaggerated length. One face of the body is decorated with L-shaped groves that give it the appearance of a shell. The opposite face has raised line decoration consisting of a shield, quartered and with a raised pellet in each quarter.
