A heater shaped lead objects which, by analogy with Arch Ant CXIV (1994) p443, fig 2.5 & p450, appears to be a medieval weight, possibly for wool. The Cliffe object weighs almost exactly 3/4 pound. The moulded monogram is rather difficult to decipher, but could read EHB. The moulded side also bears a small cross. The weight is flat and 7mm thick. The moulded lettering is c.3mm deep. The reverse is blank. There appears to be a small blocked hole at the apex, from which the weight may have been suspended.
