An incomplete rim sherd of a wheel thrown ceramic vessel, dating from the Roman period likely from around the 2nd Century. The rim is curved in form and profile and has been water worn. The remains of a lug or handle just below the rim suggests it was belonging to a flanged dish or bowl. The object is well fired and has a bright orange fabric on each face and internally. The fragment is possibly Cheshire Plain wear fabric, which is quartz rich but is more micacous than is typical. The object is very weathered.

An almost complete small fine ware vessel. Appearance seems to be a well-made vessel with a red slip coating on the outside with occasional inclusions of mica which is probably of Roman date. The rim of the object curves outwards and is chipped and worn in one place. Circumferential grooves from the wheel (wheel marks) are visible on the internal face of the vessel and on the vessel base which is uneven due to wear. The vessel is mid-orange in color and is in good condition. The rim, body and part of the base of the vessel is worn however overall there is not much wear.
