Object type: SLAG
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: Gwynedd

A piece of what appears to be copper alloy slag. It has a high metal content and is very heavy for slag but seems too irregular for a finished piece. There are small bubbles in the piece and a rounded hollow seems to be the result of a large bubble. There is a loop at one end and a shaped tail at the other.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy socketed spearhead of likely middle to late Bronze Age date (circa. 1500-600BC). The spearhead is broadly sub-triangular in plan and profile with a sub-oval/leaf-shaped blade. The blade tapers to a blunted apex. A pronounced mid-rib is present on both faces.
