A very worn copper-alloy coin weight for a rose ryal of James I dating from c.AD 1612 to1632. On the obverse it has a shield of arms combining Scotland and England overlaid on a rose, all within in a circular border. The reverse has the Roman numerals 'XXXIII' surmounted by a crown and possibly with a rose below. The numerals indicate that this weight was for a rose ryal of James I (r.1603-1625), dating to AD 1612-1632 (Withers & Withers 1995: 40). The coin weight measures 21mm in length, 21mm in width and 4mm in thickness. It weighs 10.57 grams.
