A complete cast lead-alloy ampulla dating to the Medieval period, c.1350-1530. The ampulla is broadly bag-shaped, with two suspension lugs situated at its mid point on either side of the object. One of the lugs has retained its shape whereas the opposite is broken and distorted. One face is decorated with a hachured border that runs around the entire outer edge of the ampulla, but this is not visible at the upper portion of the object due to old damage. Within this border, rectanglar panels enclosing bands of hachured decoration spaced every 5mm or so occur, running the entire length …
