An incomplete copper alloy Colchester derivative brooch of the Polden Hill type, dating from the Roman period (c.AD 90-130). The brooch has a semi-cylindrical crossbar at the head with closed perforated ends, fully enclosing and providing securing points for the axial rod. Each end of the crossbar is decorated with single circular mouldings or grooves. A similar mouldings decorates each side of the point at which the main body of the brooch is attached to the head.
