An unidentified cast copper-alloy probable vessel rim of Roman to Medieval date. Whilst quite corroded and with what appears to be an extensive amount of the object missing, there are some details that give a clue to a possible age; the outer curvature is uneven and is divided into one area decorated with around six striations and another flatter areas that is undecorated. The inner part of the curve is concave and scooped into two uneven gullies. Both the ends and the upper and lower surve edges are ragged, indicating this is a broken part of a much larger object.

A broken copper alloy medieval or post medieval mount, possibly a furniture fitting although this seems unlikely. The object tapers down from the point of the break in a curving fashion, meeting at a small acorn shaped knop. A large hole in the central section may have caused the weak point across which the object has broken.

A copper-alloy pinhead of uncertain date or possibly part of a crossbow brooch. The object consists of a short, nub-like stem which is clearly a reduced section of a much longer and more defined initial state. This expands into a globular, nearly spherical ball that is slightly flattened.

Object type: HOOKED TAG
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Cumbria
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A cast copper alloy trefoil dress hook (class E, type 5) of early post medieval date, partially complete. The hook is similar to examples illustrated on p.110 of Read (2008), particularly nos. 436-437. The hook is curled up on itself, and the attachment loop is now broken at one end and bent back almost in line with the main stem of the hook itself. The decorative, three part faux-intertwined trefoil section is textured in relief with regular indentations to give the impression of a detailed thread.

Object type: BELL
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Cumbria
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete cast copper-alloy bell, with most of the upper hemisphere, a soundhole and attachment point complete. The lower hemisphere is only now represented by a small sub-triangular section that appears to have broken on one side through a soundhole. Part of the surviving fabric of the lower hemisphere appears to have been rolled in, rather than to have simply cracked or shattered.

A cast copper-alloy buckle frame with surviving central spindle and serrated outer edge, separated from the rest of the body by an indented rectangular enclosure. The pin is missing. A cast copper buckle of sub-rectangular shape with intact pin and attached plate. The plate is looped over to create two sheets, and these are attached through by a small rivet.
