A penny of Henry III (1216-1272) of class Vg minted in London by Willem. Henry was the son of John and Isabella of Angouleme. Obverse:- Bust of Henry facing outwards, crowned and holding a sceptre. Legend around 'HENRICVS REX III', the N and R ligate Reverse:- Voided cross with three pellets in each crutch, beaded border separating surrounding legend 'WILLEM OH LVND' with the E and M, O and N and N and D ligate, and a pellet on the central bar of M.

Cut halfpenny of Henry III, class 3a from 1248-49. Probably milted at Ilchester, Norwich, Winchester or Wilton by Huge. Portraiture of English rulers during this period was heavily stylised, meaning many monarchs look incredibly similar on their coins. Obverse:- Standardised portrait of Henry III, the legend around, '[hENRICVS] REX.III' Reverse:- A long cross reaching the edge of the coin, three balls within each recess as the arms bisect the legend 'hVG/EON/[...] ' Length:- 17 mm Width:- 9 mm Weight:- 0.7g
