A silver sixpence (AD1696?) of William III (Spink 3521 possible), probable Bristol mint bit wear makes identification of mint year difficult. The coin has been folded in the classic 'S' shape of a 'love token' Obverse:- Bust of William III facing right, 'B' below, legend around 'G[V]LIELMUS III DEI G[RA]' Reverse:- a cruciform shape formed of four shields arranged radially, each crowned and individually carrying the arms of England, Ireland, France and Scotland. Legend around 'MAG [BRI F]RA E[T HIB] REX'

A corroded but partly legible copper coin of James II, issued as substitute coinage in Ireland during the campaign against William III and Mary. These are are often known as 'gun money' and were made of melted down onjects of high copper content, including bells and weaponry. Obverse:- Bust of James II, left, legend around possibly '[JACOBVS II] DEI G[RATIA] Reverse:- Mostly indistinguishable, but parts of the legend 'FRA ET HIB' are discernible.

A sixpence of William III, dated 1697 and hammer struck in silver. Wiliam was a Stadtholder of the house of Orange and was invited by the English parliament in 1688 to become king of England, Scotland and Ireland. He survived his wife and queen, Mary, eventually dying in 1702. The coin is identifiable to year and denomination but further narrowing of its specific type is hampered by the significant wear to both faces.
