TREASURE CASE: 2019 T51 A silver annular brooch of medieval date, most likely of 13th or 14th century date. This thin circular shaped frame that is D-shaped in cross-section. The upper surface is decorated with a series of arches and raised lines radiating out from the centre of the brooch. The pin is attached to the frame with an integral loop. The pin itself is in the form of a dagger. The hilt of the dagger is decorated with parallel grooves. Possible post medieval copper alloy strap mount (c. AD 1600-1750). The object has a concave upper edge which then tapers towards the base before flaring again to form bifurcated lobes. An incomplete copper alloy Polden Hill brooch of Roman date, c.AD 75 - 175. The head of the brooch comprises tubular wings, the reverse of which are hollow housing the spring/hinge mechanism. The pin and head loop no longer survive. From the centre of the front of the wings a D-sectioned bow curves out and downwards tapering to a worn break. The bow is decorated with a central longitudinal ribbed spine which run around the curve to the upper bow and terminates just above the break with a heart-shaped motif.
