A copper alloy, possibly La Tène type, dagger or sword chape dating to the Early Iron Age (800-300 BC). The chape is anchor-shaped and consists of a rectangular (oval in section) central section which narrows. From this project two curving and tapering arms which create the anchor shape. These arms terminate in a circular bulbous projection, which have a slight indentation on one side only. Fragment of a copper alloy roman Trumpet brooch, c. 1st century AD. (c.75 - 175 AD). The fragment consists of the flared 'trumpet' head of the brooch and part of the bow. The hinge mechanism, pin and catchplate are missing. The head has crescent shaped cells for coloured enamel.A very tiny piece of blue enamel survives in one of these. There is a mid-bow knob which appears to be decorated with the acanthus motif common to this type of brooch.The surface of the brooch is abraded with a pale green patina. An early medieval zoomorphic stirrup terminal dating to the 11th century. A cast copper alloy, hollow backed terminal with a supporting ledge. It is in the form of a beast's head with large protruding eyes and a snub-nosed muzzle. The object is heavily corroded but the body appears to have been decorated to mimic scales. The back of the terminal is hollow and retains traces of the iron solder used to attach it to the end of the stirrup arm. Copper alloy escutcheon in the form of a human head of possible Iron Age or Roman date (c.100BC to 100AD). The face has distinctive lentoid eyes and a simple nose, with a short straight cut line for the mouth. There are also faint traces of mould line suggesting a hairline across the forehead and down the sides of the face.The back of the object is flat. Copper alloy Hiberno Norse strap end (Thomas Class F) double sided with a perforated roundel dating 9th-10th century and likely to have been produced in Dublin (Thomas pers comm). The object is broadly rectangular but tapers at one end. The decoration comprises a roundel at the tapered end with a circular perforation. Running the length of the object is a panel of interlace. A near complete Medieval copper alloy single loop sub-triangular buckle c1250-1400. The outer edge of the look is expanded and terminates in a trefoil shaped moulding. There is a narrowed and offset strap bar. The top surface of the buckle is decorated with and has a notch for the pin to rest in. The back of the brooch is plain . The pin is a strip of copper bent round the strap bar, the tip of the pin is missing. The buckle is well preserved and has a dark green patina.
