Lead-alloy spindle whorl, dating from the medieval period (AD1200-1500). The whorl is made up of a central bi-conical body with moulded decoration. The decoration on one side has a raised zigzag line creating triangular shapes, some of which contain pellets.The other side comprises a series of raised parallel bars from the central perforation to the outer rim of the whorl.The perforation has an internal diameter of 8.9mm. The surface of the whorl is slightly worn and has a powdery white patina.
Diameter: 21.0mm; thickness: 10.9mm; weight: 18.9g.

This decoration is very badly worn and it is not possible to determine what form it would have taken. The perforation has an internal diameter of 8.3mm.The surface of the whorl is worn with a powdery white patina.
