Possible terminal from a penannular brooch of Early Medieval date (410-849). The terminal is circular with the broken stub of the hoop on one side.The object is plain and undecorated on the reverse, but the obverse has a chip-carved interlaced design enclosed within two raised circles - the inner circle being plain; the outer circle being segmented. Cast copper alloy vesica (pointed oval) shaped medieval ecclesiastical seal matrix, dating to the late 15th/early 16th century (c1450-1520). The object depicts an elaborate shrine inside which is a standing figure. This figure appears to be a man and may represent a bishop. There is a very faint vertical line on the figures right but it is unclear if this was intended to represent a staff, or possibly a crozier, or if this line is simply a corrosion pattern. The object comprises a ring that is 25mm in diameter, 5.27mm thick with an internal diameter of 15.4mm.The mount takes the form of a swan or goose-head with the neck curved to create the loop from which the ring hangs.The bill of the bird rests on its "breast" which is crudely decorated with 4 parallel, V-shaped grooves. Fragment of a cast copper alloy spectacle buckle with moulded floral decoration on the loops, c1550-1650. There are moulded trefoil knops on the outer edge of each loop and also at both ends of the strap bar. The pin is missing. There is traces of black lacquer. A cast lead alloy spindle whorl, probably dating from the late medieval to early post medieval period (c AD 1300-1500). It is bi-conical, with a circular perforation. The perforation has an internal diameter of 7.11mm. one surface of the whorl has a series of lines radiating out from the central perforation towards the outer edge. Between each line is a raised pellet.The other side is badly worn but also appears to be decorated with lines and pellets. The object is in fair condition and has a powdery white patina. Clay tobacco pipe of c1660-1680. Broseley style Type 2A bowl (Higgins 1987) with relief stamped maker's mark reading DB. The bowl is very battered and abraded from having been in the plough soil, so it is not possible to say if had been burnished originally, although it is mostly likely it would have been. Cast copper alloy jug lid of Roman date (100-300 AD). The lid is heart shaped in plan, with two cast projections on the upper side. One of these projections is on top of the lid and is rectangular. The conical, vertical, projection from this provides a method of opening the lid. The second projection is from the edge of the lid and would original have formed part of a hinge. An incomplete copper alloy socketed spearhead, of Middle to Late Bronze Age dating (1500 BC to 700 BC). The spearhead fragment consists of the upper part of the spear and is broadly sub-triangular in plan and profile with a distinct bi-convex shaped cross section. socket is circular in shape. At the break the socket has an internal diameter of 8,36mm and a depth of 17mm. The blade (sides) and tip of the spearhead are heavily abraded. The spearhead is a mid green colour. Fragment of a cast copper alloy sword-belt hanger from the post-medieval period (c1550-1650). The object would have been shield-shaped when complete (see NML-383397). It has an integrally cast, forward-facing, suspension loop. There is one, of possibly 3, rivet holes surviving. The plate is decorated with moulded design of tendrils and leaves. The back of the plate is undecorated. The object has a pale green patina with traces of possible tinning.
