A Post-Medieval copper alloy dress fastener, probably dating to c. AD 1500-1650. The fastener consists of a piriform plate with a now highly abraded cast foliate design on its front face. The plate tapers into a slightl flanged transverse collar below which it terminates in a rear-facing sharp hook. An incomplete attachment loop expands from the broad end of the plate. One face appears to have originally been decorated with a cast foliate design, but is now highly abraded.
Dimensions: length 33.2mm; width 14.5mm; thickness 1.7mm; weight 1.65g.

Description: A silver gilt dress hook of 16th century date. The hook is piriform in plan, and D-shaped in cross section, consisting of a hollow boss affixed to a backplate with a cusped outer edge. The boss is decorated with applied pellets and beaded wire, arranged into three circles flanking a central pellet, now lost. A Post-Medieval copper alloy dress fastener, probably dating to c. 1550-1700. The loop or eye section of a two-part clasp. The object consists of an oval plate with a now incomplete rectangular attachement loop at one end. A circular attachment lug projects from the opposite end of the plate, with two further flanking the juncture between the plate and loop. The plate is decorated, all cast in relief, with a voided, equal armed cross with an annulet at its centre and with an inwards-curling scroll in each quarter, filling the space within the oval, with a plain border around the edge.…
