A highly abraded Post-medieval ceramic rim sherd, of a local Coarse sandy ware, probably dating to c. AD 1600-1850. A micaeous, sandy oxidised fabric containing frequent coarse quartz and iron stone inclusions, as well as ferrous clay pellets and larger stones. Weight: 20.99g. Sherds of similar fabric were recovered from excavations in Exeter (Allan 1984: 149), probably from a shallow bowl or pan similar to Allan's (1984: 153) form 8.

An incomplete Post-Medieval to Modern clay tobacco-pipe, probably dating to AD 1787- c. 1807. The surviving portion consists of roughly 50% of the bowl, it's juncture with the pipe as well as the pointed spur. The bowl was originally moulded in two parts and later joined, with the longitudinal seems running along the inside and outside joins of the bowl decorated with moulded foliate decoration. A Post-Medieval ceramic rim sherd of a large North Devon gravel-tempered ware vessel, probably dating to c. AD 1600-1850+. A hard fired, oxideised fabric, orange in colour and containing an abundant course, angular quartz temper, c. <4.5mm. The interior surface is coated with a highly glossy brown glaze. A large open mouthed vessel with a flat, flanged, slighly overhanging rim. The sherd weighs in excess of 200g. There is evidence of sooting on the underside of the rim.

A Post-Medieval ceramic sherd of North Devon gravel tempered ware, probably dating to c. AD 1600-1850+. A handle sherd, comprising of the juncture between the handle and body of the vessel. A hard fired oxidised ware with an orange-brown fabric containing an abundant coarse grained temper comprising of abundant, angular quartz, c. <2mm, with more occassional ferrous and limestone inclusions. The vessel features a solid, highly glossy, mottled green glaze on the interior surface. Striations on the surface would suggest that the vessel was wiped prior to firing. Weight: 82.06g.

A Roman ceramic rim sherd, probably dating to c. AD 43-410. A hard fired, reduced fabric, with dark grey core and and paler surfaces, but with a black wiped/burnished surface surviving in less abraded areas. Very fine grained with sparce sand inclusions, comprising of fine, sub-angular quartz grains, <0.3mm, with rarer, larger ferrous <0.5mm and limestone <0.75mm inclusions (both also sub-angular). From a jar or shouldered bowl with an everted, beaded rim. Weight: 13.48g.

A large sherd from a Post-Medieval North Devon Sgraffito-decorated bowl, probably dating to c. AD 1600-1800+. An open-mouthed bowl with a slightly flatened rim and flanged, solid foot. The sherd was viewed uncleaned, however it could be seen to be of a hard-fired orange/red fabric throughout with occasional angular quartz inclusions. Decorated with a pale yellow/white slip internally and over the rim with incised crescents and zig-zagsin an irregular pattern and subsquently glazed internally and externally. An incomplete clay tobacco pipe, probably dating to c. AD 1660-1740. The fragment consists of the stem and heel, with the bowl missing. The stem is sub-circular in cross section, c. 11.1mm in diameter at the break, with a narrow, off-centre circular perforation, 2.2mm in diameter. A trimmed, sub-oval bowl survives at the bowl-end of the stem, 14.0mm long by 11.3mm wide, stamped with an incuse maker's mark: [B]A/RVM.
