A Medieval copper alloy heraldic horse harness pendant, dating to c. AD 1200-1400. The pendant is shield shaped, with a flat top from which extends centrally the corroded vestigial remains of an attachment loop, now seemingly lost. The front of the shield is decorated with an engrailed saltire, inlaid with red enamel on a field with a surviving white metal coating, argent a saltire engrailed gules. The reverse is plain. A highly abraded Early Medieval to Medieval copper alloy Stirrup-strap mount, of Williams' (1997) Class A, type 8, dating to c. AD 1000-1100. The surviving mount comprises of a sub-triangular plate, the zoomorphic terminal seen on comparable mounts truncated above the ears. Although now highly abraded, comparison to other examples would suggest that a pair of bifurcating tendrils project from the reverse of the head, terminating in lobes and forming the edge of the plate and with three cast sub-circular openwork elements dividing the tendrils and their lobed terminals. The mount is broadly sub-triangular, 50.1 mm long and 30.3 mm wide at the maximum, with a rounded apex flanked by two extremely abraded knops. Just below the mid-point the plate of the mount narrows into a waist, 25.0 mm wide, with a small semicircular depression on each side. The object is broadly sub-rectangular in plan, with a circular bowl which curves gradually into a long, slightly flaring sub-rectangular neck. The token is circular in plan, one face decorated with a design which is probably intended to depict a boat or ship. The design appears to have been impressed into the surface of the token, leaving an incuse sub-circular field within a bulbous border and with the design raised within. The reverse has a similar field, but which is left blank. The unusual glossy surface is due to treatment applied by the finder.
