An incomplete copper alloy Late-Medieval to Post Medieval candle-holder, dating to c.AD 1475-1600. The surviving section comprises of the lower portion of the stick, with the seperately made base missing. The candle stick is circular in cross section, terminating in a worn break at one end and likely hollow throughout, with openings at both the break and base, although it is now blocked. In each corner of both faces has been punched a small annulet or open circle, although any further stamps, if they are present, are unclear. A Post-Medieval Lead uniface token of Powell type 2, probably dating to c. AD 1500-1850. The token is circular in plan and flat, with the initials I.P in relief on one face; the other is plain. Dimensions: diameter 17.0mm; thickness 2.9mm; weight 5.65g. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally; they are therefore hard to date precisely and could be Medieval or Post Medieval in date. However, tokens depicting initials are typically assumed to be of Post-Medieval date.
