A Later Prehistoric flint scraper, probably of Later Bronze Age or Iron Age date, c. 1600-1 BC. A large sub-piriform secondary flake of mottled grey-brown flint, broadly sub-trapezoidal in cross section and retaining a layer of thin, sandy cortex on c. 20% of its dorsal face. A striking platform survives at the proximal end, with a large but unscarred bulb of percussion. A number of negative removal scars are present on the dorsal face, struck from at least four directions; the most prominent being a very large hinged removal struck from 45 degrees to the striking platform. A prehistoric flint flake of debitage, possibly of Neolithic date, c. 4000-2400 BC. An incomplete tertiary flake of orange/brown flint. A diffuse bulb of percussion survives at the proximal end of the ventral face, a series of sub-parallel removal scars survive on the dorsal face, with probable use-related chattering along the left mesal edge. The right mesal edge is lost to a break, although this may have been an intentional attempt to blunt this edge.
Dimensions: length 63.4mm; width 28.4mm; thickness 7.3mm; weight 14.53g.
