Cast copper alloy dirk dating from the Middle Bronze Age, c. 1500-1300BC. Related to dirks with ill- or poorly defined butts or possible damaged butts (because of rehafting) (Burgess and Gerloff 1981, nos. 217-266). The dirk survives in good condition with an even olive green patina covering most of the surface. There are some patches of corrosion in the centres and towards the butt ends on both obverse and reverse and there is damage around the outside edges.
