A copper alloy post medieval strap fitting or belt mount, dating to c. 17th century. The mount is lozenge shaped, with a trefoil shaped projection on one edge and a knob with smaller knop in plan on the other edge. There is very little trace of decoration, with a possible raised line across the centre of the trefoil and a rusty red patina on the uppermost surface that could indicate a previous surface treatment. On the reverse there are two integral lugs, these are worn and broken. The edge of the mount is worn. The underside of the mount has a dark green patina and rough texture.The …
