A complete medieval to post-medieval copper-alloy double-looped buckle, dating to the period AD 1350 -1650. The frame is slightly bowed. The surface of the frame is plain beneath with bevelled edges to the top surface. Each loop is oval in plan and the buckle is 'waisted' with a narrow bar dividing the two loops at the narrowest point. The bar is triangular in cross-section. A single piece of metal is looped around the bar to form the pin. The pin is not fixed in one place but can move along the bar and rotate 360 degrees around it. A fragment of a copper alloy Roman T-shape brooch (Colchester derivative) dating to the period c. AD 50-150. The wings, pin and top part of the bow remain.
The object is 27.40 mm long, 27.62 mm wide across the wings, and weighs 7.02 g.
The head exhibits a circular head loop, now largely missing, and cylindrical wings, which each extend c 9.14 mm from the head. Two grooves decorate the end of each wing on the upper surface. A complete Medieval copper-alloy single loop buckle and plate, dating to AD 1250-1400. The total length of the object is 49.74 mm and it weighs 6.97 g. The oval frame is bevelled on the upper face and three pairs of transverse grooves decorate the straight front edge. The frame's internal diameter is 18.20 mm and the external diameter is 23.33 mm.
