A copper-alloy lug from a vessel of Medieval or Post-Medieval date, c. 1400-1700. The lug is tongue-shaped, connected to a rectangular block of the original vessel wall/rim set at right angles to the axis of the lug itself. It demonstrates a large circular aperture at its midpoint. Preserved in fair condition with an even greenish patina, it measures 17.96mm long, 20.85mm wide at its widest point, and 8.29mm thick at its midpoint. It weighs 5.61g. Similar lugs are recorded on the PAS database as LIN-6D0797, LEIC-8442B6 and SOM-7D2F31. These may originate from skillet-like vessels.

A rather abraded ceramic rim sherd of Samian ware originating from a probable high sided bowl, dating c. 50-250 AD. The sherd is broadly rectangular in plan, with a a lightly curving section and small projecting rim.The sherd is extremely worn on its sections, with the slip having been completely worn away in these areas. It demonstrates an inner slightly pinkish orange fabric, covered on its main front and reverse faces with a dark reddish slip. Some light rilling marks are visible on the interior surface. Three extremely abraded sherds of Roman greyware, dating c. 43-410 AD. Two of the sherds are small undiagnostic body sherds with micaceous inclusions, while the remaining example consists an extremely large base sherd (representing less than 1/4 of the base), heavily tempered with both quartz and apparently with organic inclusions. The latter probably originates from a storage jar. Combined weight: 143.71g. Estimated diameter of base sherd: 10cm.

An assemblage of 41 pottery sherds dating to the Roman period, c. 43-410 AD. Almost the entire assemblage consists of micaceous quartz-tempered greyware, though there is a single sherd of shelly ware which may be late Iron Age and a rather abraded sherd of possible colour-coated ware. The assemblage consists of four base sherds, 18 body sherds and 19 rim sherds, mainly preserved in poor or middling condition. Most of a small to medium size. Combined weight: 296g.

A wheel-thrown base sherd originating from a vessel of possible Farnham/Alice Holt greyware and dating to the Roman period, c. 43-410 AD. The sherd consists one edge of the base and part of the lower body as it slopes upwards before being abruptly and irregularly truncated in old damage. The sherd survives to a height of 16.52mm, while the curvature of the base suggests a diameter of c. 10cm for the original complete vessel foot. It weighs 15.73g.

An incomplete copper-alloy Post-Medieval farthing traders token struck for Nathaniel Howlett, a draper based in Mildenhall, dating to 1667. Williamson 248. Obverse: the draper's arms, NATHANIEL HOWLETT Reverse: initials NH, rosette flanked by pellet above and below, IN MILDINHALL 1667. Farthing tokens were first issued in 1648 as a response to the lack of small change, with halfpenny tokens following later. They were finally suppressed in 1674 under Royal Authority. This example has been pierced off centre.

A large section of a tegula type rooftile dating to the Roman period, c. 43-410 AD. The fragment consists around 25% of the original tile, demonstrating the outer body and part of the raised edge. Demonstrating a high-fired bright orange fabric, the fragment is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and 'L' shaped in profile, it survives to a length of 127.62mm, 64mm wide at its widest point, and 46.51mm thick at the midpoint of its raised outer edge. It weighs 324g.

Dimensions: 83.17mm long, 65.54mm wide, 20.09mm thick at midpoint. Weight: 144.53g. The second, a fragment of a tegula-type rooftile consisting one edge and part of the raised flange, 'L' shaped in section and mould-made. Dimensions:140.94mm long, 87.36mm wide, 18.65mm thick at midpoint. Weight: 431g.

A complete cast copper-alloy thimble dating to the Post-Medieval period, c. 1550-1600. It is somewhat squashed in post-depositional damage, though survives completely intat. It demonstrates an originally circular base, with high sides and a flattened circular top. The latter are decorated with ten courses of hand stamped shield-shaped dimples, with a makers mark of a fleur de lis visible at the beginning of the first row. Underneath this is a plain band demarcated by a shallow groove. Preserved in good condition with an even green patina, the thimble now stands 21.83mm high, and 26.32…
