Roman copper alloy brooch, Aucissa or Hod Hill variant type. Length: 62 mm, width: 12 mm, thickness: 5 mm, weight: 3.57 grams.
The brooch is rectangular in form and cross section and has a centrally placed pin emerging from its flat hinged headplate, c.12mm wide. Below this it has a pinched rectangular area flanked by a slightly projecting collar above and below. From here the brooch has an elonagted rectangular shaped bow which tapers to a point and has a central vertical ridge running its length. It has the remains of a long catchplate near the reverse of its base.
