A Post-Medieval hoard of silver coin clippings, stored in an intact ceramic jar. The hoard contains coinage of Philip and Mary (1553-1558), Elizabeth I (1558-1603), James I (1603-1625) and Charles I (1625-1649). The items were declared Treasure Trove at an inquest in 1972. The majority of clippings are of the whole circumference of the coins. That the clippings were recovered in a ceramic jar probably indicates that they were intended to be recovered and melted down. An incomplete copper alloy eye-section of a blunt hooked and eye clasp of the early Post Medieval period, circa AD 1600 - 1700. The object consists of a broadly oval plate, with an incomplete rectangular eye or loop at one end. The plate has three perforated knobs projecting from the outer edge, one on either side roughly half way down the body of the object, and one at the rounded point of the oval. An incomplete cast copper alloy Colchester derivative, hinged brooch of Roman date, c.AD 55-100. One side of the cylindrical wings is damaged and the end is missing, whilst the other retains the axis bar from which the hinged pin would have slotted on. A Post-Medieval copper alloy advertising token dated to the late 18th century. The token advertises the company Dixon & Parkers, a Nottingham based outfitters, renowned for making school uniforms. A fragment of a copper alloy socketed axehead dating to the Late Bronze Age (c. 1150 - c. 800 BC). Only the tip of the axehead survives. The blade edge is mostly intact and has a convex curve. The fragment has a broadly rectangular cross-section at the break. The break reveals the very tip of the inside of the rectangular socket. The fragment is corroded and pitted, with an olive-brown patina and patches of green corrosion product. A post-medieval iron cannon ball, dating to the period AD 1600-1800. It is made of iron, which has been presumably cast, although no seams are visible. The ball is dark brown with lighter flecks across a pitted surface. This ball is likely from a Minion cannon in use from the mid-16th century through to the end of the 17th, possibly dating to the English Civil War. An incomplete Post-Medieval silver seal matrix. The seal matrix is of the fob type and has an oval die which is engraved with a rampant lion within a twisted rope style border.
