Late medieval / early post medieval copper alloy book clasp dating to the period c. AD 1500 - 1650. A flat rectangular plate with a flared attachment terminal at one end, the edge engrailed. Engraved transverse grooves radiate from the edge of the plate inwards. At the attachment end are two rivet holes, one surrounded by two compass engraved circles and retaining the corroded remains of an iron rivet.
