A medieval to post-medieval (1250-1600) copper alloy D-shaped buckle frame complete with pin. The axis bar is buckled and cracked. The pin is flat and measures 21.9mm in length. It curls around the bar at one end and tapers to a pont at the other. The axis bar has a square cross-section. The frame and pin have a red/brown patina with patches of bright green corrosion. The object is 25.1mm long, 21.0mm wide, 2.6mm thick and weighs 4.52g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead (1996; p 19, ref 53), very broadly dated to 1250-1650.

An incomplete copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 5b4, flat wing ends type, Western Group) dating to AD 80-120. The wings are C-shaped in cross-section, being hollow to the reverse, and span 25.4 mm. An incomplete medieval (1350-1400) copper-alloy oval buckle frame of Meols type 10 with ornate outside edge; it is missing its pin. The oval frame has short curved edges, oval in cross section. The bar is slightly offset from the frame and narrowed, and is circular in cross section. At the centre, inside the central slot of the plate, there is an expanded squarish section to the inside edge of the bar, presumably to prevent the plate from sliding up or down the bar. At either end of the bar is a diagonal moulded decorative knop, angled into the corners of the plate (which have been c…

A copper-alloy thimble of closed construction, dating from the early post-medieval period (c. 1500 - 1700). The crown is shallowly domed and the walls below flare to the open end. A spiral of drilled sub-square pits (probably) start at the centre of the crown and continue around the walls to the base; corrosion product obscures on the crown. The walls of the thimble are thin (1 mm thick). The thimble is very squashed and has a 'diameter' at the open end of 23.2 x 1.4mm. The diameter of the crown is 12.77 mm.
