Two pieces of a cast copper-alloy, incomplete Saxon small-long brooch. The first fragment consists of the head, which looks to be in the form of a three-armed, square-headed cross. However the head is worn and much of the definition has been lost. There are the remains of four small, circular indents, three in all but one corner (the fourth corner has been too damaged) and one in the centre. The base forms the beginings of the bow, arching into a convex profile. On the reverse the intergral, semi-circular hinge can be seen. The pin is missing. Length: 32.20mm Width: 19.06mm Thickness:…

An incomplete, copper alloy, Roman T-shaped brooch. The wings are cylindrical and house a corroded axis bar (perhaps iron). A fragment of the pin still remains and has been bent over time. The bow is relatively straight in cross section (which could be a result of damage over time) and wide at the top before tapering to sharply to a pointed foot. There appears to be a raised decorative pattern of the bow, in an almost elongated tear drop shape which mirrors the shape of the bow. other than this, the brooch is relatively undecorated.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy Langton Down type bow brooch dating to around the early Roman Conquest (43-70AD). It has the typical flat backed bow of Langton Down brooches and there appears to be some indication that there were divisions along the length of the bow (however they have been so worn it's difficult to say for certain). The end of the bow tapers into a point and there appears to be the scar of a catchplate visible on the underside of the bow. It has a cylindrical-section head, in which remnants of the spring mechanism still remain from which a small, broken part of the p…
