An incomplete, lead, post medieval, jug or tankard handle, AD.1500-1800. The object comprises a curled tapering piece of lead which is triangular in cross section. The widest end of the piece forms the main attachment for the handle to the vessel. It is triangular and has a large central rivet, that has been distorted. The narrowest end if flat and would likely have been soldered on to the vessel. It has broken away and has coiled up on itself with the narrow end now tucked up behind the wide attachment end. A pair of incomplete, post medieval, cast lead, cockrels, AD.1800-1950. The cockrels are posed slightly differently but are stylistically identical and probably come from a set. One is rearing up while the other is stretched low. They are perhaps a pair of fighting cockrels. They have been manufactured flat with the details of the birds picked out in cast relief. It is primarily cast in lead or a lead alloy with some iron parts for the mechanism. The stock has a flat butt and tapers up towards the mechanism and the barrel. Both sides of the stock are decorated with foliate design. The trigger has been lost. The mechanism is attached to the stock on the left side of the gun by three iron screws. The top of the strap end is damaged and originally would have had a central rivet hole, of which only a part remains. The front face is decorated with intertwined beasts and would originally have had a silver coating. The upper portion of the object comprises a sub-trapezoidal plate with a circular knop on its top right- and left-hand corners, and a pointed-oval recess with openwork design consisting of seven perforations. Below this, the plate separates into three 'tongues', each of which is vertically split to accommodate the now-missing strap. The rear of the object is identically decorated. The centrsl design appears to have been a cruciform of pointed oval petals with an incised line separating them, only 2 are clearly visible now. The chape is formed from a single sheet of copper alloy that has been rolled to form a conical shape, a rivet hole is present at the wide end of the cone, to secure it to the leather scabbard or sheath. The closed end of the chape has been formed by cutting the sheet into triangles and pressing them shut.
