An incomplete copper-alloy Iron Age brooch, dating from the 4th-3rd century BC. La Tene I type, see Hattatt 2000 fig.147. The surviving piece comprises the head, bow and catchplate of the brooch; the spring and pin are missing, as is any decoration of the foot. The head of the brooch coils around from the start of the spring into the bow. The bow is wider than the head, then tapers down to the foot. Extending down the bow is a ridge of decoration. An incomplete, copper alloy, Roman bow brooch, Colchester derivative, double pierced lug, Harlow type, AD.40-100. The object comprises, the head, bow and catch plate of the brooch. The spring and pin have been lost. The head of the brooch is quite corroded but preserves the loop on the head for the spring and the wings. Running from the head down the bow is a ridge decorated with an incised zig-zag. On either side of the ridge is a concave gully that runs down the length of the bow. A fragment of an early medieval, Anglo-Scandinavian, 11th century, copper alloy cheek piece from a horse harness, AD.1000-1150. The piece consists of a copper alloy ring with three small knops at cardinal points around the edge. The piece has a brown, green colour. The upper portion of the object comprises a sub-trapezoidal plate with a circular knop on its top right- and left-hand corners, and a pointed-oval recess with openwork design consisting of seven perforations. The top of the strap end is damaged and originally would have had a central rivet hole, of which only a part remains.
