Post Medieval lead cast decorative mount in the style of a Fleur-de-lys also known as a Fleur-de-lis, meaning flower of the lily. The mount is Lozenge shaped (pointed rectangle) in form with bas relief detail on the front face. It has a trilobed form of three 'petals' emerging from a lower stem. It has two holes positioned presumably used as mounting points. The mount is 58mm in length, 42mm in width and 15mm in depth with a weight of 138g. A complete copper alloy cosmetic mortar, with an end loop for suspension at one end, and a knobbed terminal at the other. The mortar is eliptical or bow shaped with a 13mm diameter suspension loop which is integral and joined to the main shaft of the mortar, with the hole itself being 5mm in diameter. The object appears to be cast. Their is a fine line at the base of terminal knob where it joins the main part of the shaft.
