A cast lead spindle whorl, probably of medieval date. It is bi-convex with a narrow circumferential rim. One surface is decorated with raised pellets arranged concentrically, ten in one circle, sixteen in the outer. The other surface has raised hatching. The central perforation is evenly formed and is 11 mm in diameter. Overall diameter is 29 mm, thickness 9 mm. Weight is 32.3 g. Spindle whorls are used for a long period of time and as such are very difficult to date precisely without an established context.
