A rim sherd fragment from a Roman East Gaulish Rheinzabern or Heiligenberg samian ware cup, Form Dragendorff 30 dating to AD 120 - 200. The vessel has a beaded rim and is decorated with rouletted design consisting of a narrow grove above a wide rouletted band which is divided by a central narrow grove. A similar cup found in Colchester is illustrated in Oswald & Pryce (1920: Pl. LXXV. fig 13). An incomplete Post Medieval bone knife handle dating from AD 1500 -1700. The knife is a two-piece handle with an iron scale tang with two bone or ivory scale plates. Each plate is decorated with incised design consisting of three bands with double saltires and at the curved top there are ring and dot, with three on one side and two on the other. The plates are fixed to the tang with three iron rivets. A similar knife handle is illustrated in Crummy (1987:76 fig 3100) The iron tang is corroded and has split one of the bone plates. A Post Medieval lead alloy 'Lyon' counter, dating AD 1575-1590. The token depicts a rampant lion within a garter, surmounted by a crown. Within the garter is the inscription HONI SO NI SO[HI]T. The token has been folded carefully and precisely in half. This variation is not in Mitchiner. Dimensions: diameter: 21.37 mm; thickness: 2.82mm; weight: 2.74g. A complete early post-medieval copper alloy thimble dating AD1520-1620. The thimble has a wide margin between the base and the regularly spaced pits which is decorated with a stamped pattern. The pattern comprises a stamped repeated decoration composed of a thin band of lozenges with annulets within. An incomplete Roman boxwood double-sided comb dating from AD 50-410. The one-piece comb has been formed from a single piece of boxwood. The comb is a double-sided 'H' format with teeth on both sides of a central reserve. The comb is lentoid shaped in section with a set of coarse teeth on one side of the central reserve and a set of fine teeth on the other. The remaining part consists of a complete oval finger looped arm and fragment of the other arm with part of the iron blade.
