An incomplete copper alloy, Roman Colchester derivative, hinged brooch. The brooch is composed of a head with two tubular side wings which form one long hollow cylinder. The iron pivot pin has been exposed at one end where the copper has broken away. A small groove sits in the centre of the back of the head which is where the wire pin used to be. An incomplete Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative, hinged (dolphin) brooch. It is composed of a head with two tubular side wings. The pin sits on a pivot which looks to be where the brooch has been repaired. The original bar seems to have been broken and a new pivot has been pushed into one side and on the other is exposed. An incomplete Roman T-shaped or 'sawfish' brooch. The pin is missing but there is trace of rust where it was. The wings are cylindrical and contain an axis bar for a hinged pin. The bow arches from the centre of the wings and is decorated with a pronounced ridge down the centre, with a concave channel to either side. The bow is wide, flat, and contains two rows of recessed triangular panels that would have once contained enamel. It is very similar to No 31, page 304, Richard Hattatt's Ancient Brooches, found in Thetford, Norfolk.

A copper alloy belt mount dating to the Medieval period, (1100-1500). It is domed with a concave rear. The object has a central oval section and has a sub-rectangular terminal at each end. Each terminal has a hole for rivetting(around 1mm), one is empty and the reverse is countersunk. The other hole has a rivet corroded in place. In the centre larger hole (4.3mm) is also countersunk on the reverse. The arms aredecorated with a series of small transverse grooves. The object has a dark-green patina and is in good condition.

A fragment of a Roman copper alloy pin. The knob shaped head sits above a rectangular shaft, of which there remains only a short length. Head diameter 8.0mm, shaft cross section 3.5mm by 3.5mm and 13.5mm long.

An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy spur buckle (c. 1250-1400). This buckle is convex at the front and recessed at the rear. It has an oval frame and an elongated damaged integral plate. The outer edge of the oval frame is expanded/swollen and has a slight transverse groove as a pin-rest. The plate tapers from the frame to the break, the hook is missing. There is a transverse ridge next to the frame and either side of the pin hole. Pin missing!

A complete cast copper-alloy harness pendant of Medieval date. The pendant is in the form of a scallop shell with convex front and concave back faces and a total of eight radiating ribs on the front face. At the top is an integrally cast copper-alloy suspension loop set at an angle of ninety degrees to the plane of the plate. This has a complete oval shaped loop with central aperture, which has been damaged by being bent at 30deg . This is a decorative, non-heraldic, harness pendant of Medieval date. It is likely to date to the 13th or 14th centuries AD if not a little later.

A complete copper alloy bar mount with two rivet holes, dating to the period ADc.1350- c.1400AD.
The mount consists of a rounded body with two terminal lobes with surviving attachment rivets. The body is decorated with three horizontal incised grooves. The body is convex and the reverse is concave.

Single looped rectangular shaped copper-alloy medieval buckle with heavily rusted iron pin, rusted into place at one corner of the offset strap bar. Wide lip with one deep transverse grooves for pin to rest on. Sides curve out slightly. The buckle has a dark brown patina. Whitehead gives a date range of c.1350 - 1400 for this type pf buckle. Very similar to Whitehead no. 136 Length:14.54, Width: 14.6mm, Thickness: 3.00, Weight 1.95gms.

A post-medieval square copper-alloy buckle frame with rounded corners, 14 x 14mm. A separate iron bar in the centre of the frame has a copper-alloy tube heavily corroded on to it, with two spikes forming a double pin. Whitehead illustrates similar examples (2003, nos. 733 and 734) which he identifies as boot buckles and dates to c. AD 1720-1790.

A Roman copper alloy strap end. The strap end has a shank of rectangular section, which gently tapers to a heart or leaf shaped terminal. One one side of the terminal there is a V shaped groove chased into the metal where the stem meets the heart shaped end.

Medieval copper alloy annular brooch, dating to 1100-1400AD. The brooch is circular in form and semi-circular in cross section. It has a pin, wrapped around a recess in the frame, which tapers to a point. The pin instead of siting on the surface has been rotated to the underneath. The top half of the upper surface is decorated with 12 grooves which appear to have been filed into the surface as decoration.

A rectangular copper alloy mount with a hand engraved flower patterm. There are four leaves at the front with four others behind. Originally there were four rivets holding the item in place, now one is the there, one is totally missing,a third one is visible both on front and back, and the fourth can only be seen from the reverse. On the front this fourth one has been engraved and totally hidden. The edges are damaged, with one rounded and one partially curve over.

A lead spindle whorl of uncertain date, though probably belonging to the medieval or post-medieval period, c.1066-1700). It has one flat surface 24.6mm in diameter and a convex sloping wall. The central hole is 7.5mm.. The whorl has a well developed white patina with some later damage.

A complete copper alloy casket key from the Medieval period. The key is small with an oval cross section stem. The bow extends from the stem and is sub-circular in plan with a cast central hole. The opposite end of the stem has a centrally drilled hole and a single warded bit.
The key has an olive green patina. overall the key is 33.6mm long, 3.3mm thick, the bow is 14.75mm in diameter, the stem is 6.32mm at its widest point. The key weighs 5.7g.

A damaged, (squashed, lead spindle whorl of Medieval date (AD 1200-1550). The object is circular and in profile is sub bi-convex, there is a single, central circular perforation running through running through the object.The perforation was extended either end by a raised lip. Both sides are decorated by a raised pattern. All this being now blurred.

A late Post Medieval to Modern lead alloy kosher seal. The seal is roughly circular and has a slot running through it from top to bottom, cord would be run around the object then through the slot and it which would have been squeezed closed to attach it to the cord. One face has a raised Star of David (open interlocked equilateral triangles forming a six pointed star), the other the number 220.
