An incomplete copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill type, of Roman date (AD 80-400). The axis bar and spring mechanism appear intact although they are heavily corroded. The pin is missing. The wings are cylindrical in plan with wing / end caps intact. Three of the spring coils are visible at the reverse. The bow is broad where it meets the wings it then tapers to a rounded knop foot. At the reverse of the brooch the catchplate is damaged and is broadly triangular in profile. An incomplete copper alloy Late Iron Age/ Early Roman simple one-piece or Nauheim derivative type brooch dating to circa BC 100-AD 43 The pin is missing and some of the curls of the spring along with the catchplate. The head consists of two spring coils extending into the cord above, it is possibly missing two further coils that would have extended into the pin on the other side of the head. A Roman copper alloy two part brooch of colchester derivative circa AD 25-60. The brooch is incomplete and consists of the wings which are semi-circular in form. The bow is a seperate piece that has been riveted to the centre of the wings. The rivet can be seen at the reverse. The bow is a circular tube in form that tapers to a broken point. A Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Chapter 3, Part 3, Group 4b, c.f. Mackreth Type 4b, Plate 46, AD c. 75-400. A fragment of a Roman trumpet brooch of Bayley and Butcher 2000, Group B/C. It consists of a fragment of the bow. The head, lower bow and catchplate are missing. The bow is decorated at the upper section by three moulded horizontal ribs. The reverse of the bow is flat apart from the broadly triangular in profile remains of the catchplate. The object has a dark green coloured patina across all surfaces. The fragment measures 39.2 mm in length, 6.8 mm in width, 6.4 mm in thickness and weighs 4.7 grams.
