A Roman ceramic flue tile (hypercaust) fragment (AD43-410). One surface has thick diagonal grooves and ridges forming a criss-crossed pattern. The grooves contain traces of mortar. The ridges have sub-rectangular pits. The outer surfaces are dark grey and the core is orange/red. The fabric has ill sorted in frequent burnt flint and grog inclusions. The breaks are abraded. Dimensions: length: 82mm; width: 61mm; thickness: 23mm; weight: 114.23g.

A Roman fragment of a roof tile (tegula) (AD43-410). The fragment includes the flange and part of the base. The flange has a rectangular cross-section and has the characteristic thumb groove on the upper surface at the junction between the flange and the base. The tile has a white sandy fabric with irregular flint inclusions. The breaks are quite abraded. Dimensions: length:60mm; width: 72mm; thickness: 35mm; weight: 267.14g.

A Medieval - Modern stone whetstone. The whetstone is cuboid, with four rectangular faces and two square end surfaces. There is some damage to the square ends. All four rectangular surfaces are very smooth through use and on two of the surfaces are grooves from where the blade sharpness was tested. Dimensions: length: 81mm; width: 34mm; thickness: 31mm; weight: 163.41g.

A Roman pottery rim fragment from a flagon (AD50-170). The fabric is white and sandy with irregular quartz and some mica inclusions. It resembles Verulamium Region White Ware. The sherd has been trimmed and it is very abraded probably through use. This suggests the rim was reused probably as a spindle whorl or possibly as a weight. The reuse could date Roman – Early Medieval - Anglo-Saxon (AD50-AD1066). Dimensions: diameter of the central hole: 21mm; diameter of rim: 46mm; thickness: 17mm; weight: 24.86g.

A Post Medieval - Modern ivory incomplete object (probably 16th-18th century). The object is a pointed oval in plan with a D-shaped cross-section so the reverse is flat and the front convex. The rounded end is complete and has been worked to form a rounded point. There is an oval perforation at this end that may be deliberate or accidental. There are several cavities where an organic temper has burnt out; there are also flint, quartz and micaceous frequent inclusions. The breaks are very abraded. There are five circular interlocking holes where discs (circa 10mm in diameter) have been cut from the fragment. Dimensions: diameter: 10mm; length: 89mm; width: 17mm; thickness: 8mm; weight: 9.35g.
