An incomplete cast copper-alloy Early-Medieval harness link of Anglo-Scandinavian attribution from the 11th or 12th century, c. AD 1000-1150..
The fitting consists of a central bar, D-shaped in cross section, terminating in on circular loop with three knops on the outside edge and substantial internal bevelling. At the other is a worn break proceeded by a raised thickened collar. The link is heavily worn and the object is patinated a mid brown wtih some green patination.

Description: The matrix is conical in shape with a collared pointed handle rising from a round die, at the apex of the handle is a flat circular suspension loop. The circular die face has a central design depicting a fox holding a chicken in its jaws left (right when used). The inscription reads '+SIGNO MATH'I: CREDITE SIC EI'. Two fragments of a silver finger-ring dating to the medieval period (AD 1350-1500).
Description: The ring has been flattened and is in two parts but appears almost complete. The rectangular-sectioned band is decorated on the external surface with a raised, inscription in black letters that reads:- ‘Caspar * Balthasar * melcior *’. The letters are lower case and the * represents a five petalled flower with a central circular hole, each petal is wedge shaped. The inscription is set within a recessed panel with plain raised rim. The interior surface of the ring is plain.

A complete copper-alloy seal matrix of medieval date, c.AD 1300 - 1400. The die of the matrix is circular with a tapering hexagonally faceted handle extending from the reverse. The handle terminates in an oval-shaped terminal with central perforation which would have served as a suspension loop. The die itself carries a central motif depicting three figures, one seated. This is surrounded by a legend which reads in French '+DAME AIET MERSI DE MOI ' which translates to 'Lady (Mother) of god be merciful of me'. Unusually there appears to be no initial mark.
