A very worn post-medieval silver halfcrown of William III (AD 1694-1702). c.1696-1701 AD. The obverse legend is correct GVLIELMVS. III DEI GRA, however the reverse legend shows two interlinked 'C's in two of the angles, there are none known of this type and may be an attempt at a partial copy of a Charles II half crown. This may be a contemporary copy. Also the silver content has a more base like appearance; on discovery the coin had a quite green patina. 33.4mm Diameter, Thickness 1.5mm, Weight 10.08g.
